Job Overview
We are looking for a passionate and skilled Data Engineer (AWS specialist) to join our product team. As Builtrix is growing its customer base in Portugal and Europe, this role is important in ensuring seamless integration of data from multiple sources, processing it efficiently, and enabling meaningful insights.
Key Responsibilities

Cloud Integration:
-
Design and implement data integration pipelines from diverse sources, including cloud platforms, legacy building management systems (BMS/EMS), and IoT systems. The pipeline may include some unstructured processes such as scrapping and/or reading data from uploaded CSV/PDF files.

Ensure robust and secure data exchange mechanisms at both data exchange and control/automation levels.

ETL Processes:

Build and maintain efficient ETL workflows to process, clean, and transform data for analytics and operational use.
-
Handle both batch and real-time data processing requirements effectively.

Cloud Infrastructure Management:
-
Leverage AWS services such as Transfer Family, API Gateway, Lambda, Athena, S3, EC2, RDS and others to develop scalable solutions.
-
Ensure systems are optimized for performance, security, and cost-efficiency.
-

Data Analytics:
-
Collaborate with the product team to support analytics and machine learning initiatives.
-
Enable API-based data access for customers using RESTful API frameworks.

Data Security:
-
Ensure best practices in data security and compliance with industry standards

Requirements

Experience:

A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in data engineering or a related field such as backend development.
-
At least 1 year of hands-on experience with AWS cloud services.
-

Technical Skills:
-
Proficiency in working with cloud-based infrastructures, particularly AWS.
-
Strong knowledge of data integration tools and protocols.
-
Strong knowledge of databases.
-
Strong knowledge of coding in Python.
-
Strong knowledge of data and cloud infrastructure security.

Experience in designing ETL pipelines for batch and real-time processing.

Soft Skills:

Passion for data analytics and sustainability.

Your day to day activities look like:

meetings with the product team and contributing in planning the next sprints.

considering the data integration requirements based on the API / Server / Data lake / Database requirements and documentations

developing new features on the ETL process and data pipeline

testing the ETL performance and reporting the key metrics to product leader for the next upgrades

monitoring the data pipeline behaviour and building automated reports on missing data and blocked connectors

reviewing the process costs and exploring cost reduction opportunities
Success in this position will be measured by:

How fast the data integration developments are made.

How efficiently the data pipeline including the connectors, processors, and storage system operate to:

make sure continuous high quality data ingestion and export
